A yoo!!!!! Wazzup...wazzup...wazzup!!! (Martin voice) aww man what's going on everybody. Believe it or not I missed posting on my blog. Last week I got caught up in a few things so I didn't make a new post. But, I tried to keep my word and repost the latest blog so everyone can stay up to date. Anyhow I'm back and ready to break things down for ya.

First things first...I poppa freaks all the honeys, bunnies....lol Jp that was something for my hip hop fans real quick. Time to get serious.....

This past weekend I made a trip to Atlantic City with my boy Rad aka the camera man. Overall, it was a cool trip. Getting out of Mass for over 24 hours is always relaxing and allows me to re-focus. While we were out there we were on our promotion grind. Met a few new faces and spread the brand. Everybody loved the idea and gladly accepted the wristbands. Shout out to those in philly specifically real cool people. All but two people on the boardwalk was feeling me.......I mean I tried to let these two guys in on the brand and they ran away from me like I had a contagious disease. Even said "have a free wristband" but they showed me no love. They were much older white guys in their 40s I bet on a weekend trip getting away from their wives. Now that I think of it they were in the direction of the strip club lol but that's none of my business tho (Kermit face). That was the first time someone has ever rejected the idea of the brand. Guess I have to get used to everyone not wiling to listen to me. Every experience is a lesson! The two guys did help me learn to target my audience more. The movement continues on tho...

I have an issue with balancing work and relaxation time. You would think being out of town I would kick back and put my feet up but i see new opportunities everywhere I go. I figure I'll relax when I'm where I want to be in life.

The blog is over 3k views! Shout out to those in Canada and the Uk. Both countries have been showing me love. Feels good to know im reaching different areas of the world. Anybody out of the US that's been following along please leave a comment stating where your from. I'm really interested in knowing. Also, anybody in the US as well please leave a comment letting me know where your from.

We are midway through the season for the T+T Basketball league. Shout out to every player and supporter that comes on Sundays. I am looking into hosting a end of the season celebration for the league as well as for the brand. Stay tuned for further information in a future post.

One month at a time

Thursday is here so it's time for a new post. I have been testing out what times are best to post. So far I have came to the conclusion that first thing in the morning isn't good because many people haven't gotten their coffee. Last thing they want to do is read what a 22 year old is talking about. I have tried midday like around 1 or so because that's when the most common lunch break is. But, surprisingly I didn't receive the views that I thought. So now I am testing out "after dinner" time. Let me know what your preference would be in a comment!

 

As of today the Be Your Own Dad Facebook page is one month old. I had a goal to reach 200 likes within the first month. I'm proud to announce the page is at 223 likes! The word is getting out and I want to thank everyone that takes the time to read these blogs and posts on the Facebook page. Also, I want the Facebook page to be a page for eveyone! Anybody can write a post about their own goals or how they are feeling that day. Anybody can comment and help each other out as long as they already liked the page . You will be amazed with what the next person can help you with. Take a chance! 

I make goals and keep records because if you don't know where you were a month ago then you don't know how far you have gotten a month later. Goal setting is very important in life! You can apply it to anything. As well as record keeping is important too. Every sports player want to know their stats right! 

So to conclude I'm continuing to promote as much as I can. The wristband count is getting low which is a bad thing and a good thing. Glad they are getting passed out. This brand gets as far as my supporters take it! I'm happy to say I am receiving support across state lines now including Minnesota and Tennessee! So much has happend this weekend!

Tuesday is already here! So much has changed since the last blog post so i'll try to catch you guys up with everything. First off I received my hosting reel finally! The hosting reel is an example of hosting work that I have done on the street as well as in studio. It's not much but I know its a start. Also, it gives a great explanation of the brand. I want to clear up that in the video I mention sitting down with Jamie Foxx. This is a method often used when making hosting reels to represent different views the brand can be related to. So NO I did not actually sit down with Jamie but the sky is the limit. Here is the link to the video: 

Secondly, the third installment of the sideline story is up on the website as well. I received a comment on my other blog supporting the idea of the sideline story because it shows the importance of goal setting. I just want to say when you have an idea and other people understand what you are trying to accomplish its a great feeling. I didn't have to say explain anything it was just understood through action. The comment explained how the videos helped the younger generation understand goal setting and that truly can make a difference for our upcoming generation. Here is the link for the third webisode:

Lastly, I want to speak about the power of social media. Facebook is good and bad in my opinion because often times people post unnecessary statuses and stupid videos. But, Facebook is good when you have something to say to the world. Which leads me to the second testimony that will be featured on the website. I had the chance to speak to Brianna from Minnesota and she is making a change in peoples' lives. Brianna posted a video expressing the effect and her emotions of her father not being in her life. She kept is REAL! Which is what I love. Didn't hold anything back and said what was on her heart. Can't forget to mention she posted the video this past Sunday night and it appeared on my timeline Monday night with over 17,000 shares! Talk about a overnight sensation. Like I said in a previous post everything happens for a reason. Her video appeared on my timeline and I automatically thought her video relates to the brand. So I was able to get in contact with her and she is very supportive in the idea of beyourownbrand. She also has given me permission to post her video on the site which will be there by the end of the night. I want to shout Brianna out! Say Thank You for the video and everybody please listen to her story. Need hometown and Mass Support!

Alright, gonna make this nice and short because I need to go chef it up in the kitchen. But,........have a few important things to cover.

First thing is on the website I made a change under the contact tab. There is now a comment table where all visitors can leave their thoughts about the brand on the page. Or leave any suggestions about the brand. Or if  they want to just show love they can say something. This way we can all be connected and share our thoughts. I need everyone to keep in mind that the brand beyourowndad is for everybody. So if there is anything you would like to see on the site just comment. I do want to test out how this will work soooo...........IF YOU ARE READING THIS GO TO THE WEBSITE AND UNDER THE CONTACT US TAB MAKE A COMMENT SAYING WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU ARE FROM. I want to see if this will be an effective feature.

Second thing is I need hometown support. Its important that everybody from Taunton support the movement because this brand is BIG. I know its something that will be able to make a positive change for the future. Which will eventually affect the upcoming generations aka your children. And then your grandchildren. So everybody from Taunton please tell a friend to tell a friend. Now, I know I have supporters outside my hometown and I haven't forgotten about you guys. I need everybody outside of Taunton to also tell a friend about the brand because after the hometown its Mass that will be affected. Because, theres levels to this sh*t!! lol Can't jump across state lines without having state support. Can't have state support without have hometown support. See where i'm going with this.....This will be as big as supporters make it.

Wow I said I was gonna keep this short and I keep typing away smh...

Third thing is to all T+T basketball players you must bring your jerseys aka shirt to the game. If you don't bring the shirt than you cant play! Or you have to pay $5 to play that day and I know nobody wants to pay anything additional. So DON'T FORGET YOUR SHIRTS! See you this Sunday and get ready to have a good time.

Last thing is the East Taunton Holy Ghost Festival is this weekend. I will be there Friday July 11, 2014 passing out wristbands. Only going to bring 100 wristbands so the first 100 people I see will receive one.

Future is in our hands

Today i'm excited and sad at the same time. As I type this post i'm waiting for my team to link up with me so we can go to the beach. We had a plan to leave by 12 but.......our clocks have different time zones. Partially my fault thought because I over slept. But, we are traveling to Horseneck Beach today in Fall River to spread the brand and pass out wristbands.

Prior to going to sleep I learned of some unfortunate news. To make a long story short another person got caught up in the system. I'm feeling some type of way because I knew the person and his potential was great. It kills me inside seeing another black man fall to the system. This is another reason why I feel like beyourowndad can change lives because the busier you stay the less trouble you get in to. I know all parents once said that to their child and its true. If beyourowndad can create events and activities in the Taunton area than that will encourage people to come out and be productive. Also, possibly develop jobs because help will be needed to organize the events. I'm thinking ahead of myself but I just hope the brand will make a positive impact on lives.

As far as the brand goes the wristband movement has been lovely! I passed out a few this past weekend and I already received feedback. I feel like an idea of mine is successful if I at least receive support from a person I didn't know. That just means another person is added to the movement. Today is just another day to spread the brand and grind!

I'm excited to share the 2nd webisode of the sideline story is up on the site. I'm also going to post the link in this post. The T+T league has been phenomenal so far. Let me take this time to pass an invite to anybody who would like to come and support. Games are at the boys and girls club in Taunton, MA every Sunday for the rest of the summer. Wristbands are In!

Very exciting day for the brand! The wristbands have finally came in! Woke up this morning to a package on my doorstep. About time!!!!

The promotion team and I will begin our mini tour around Mass. It's actually a unplanned tour because we are taking it day to day but we are gonna be constantly moving and spreading the word. I'll be giving wristbands to anyone that supports the movement. 

For those that receive a wristband please post a pic on any of the social media sites (Facebook, twitter, Instagram) with the wristband on saying where you are from and anything extra. Once again this is only the beginning and I'm excited about the future. Gonna keep this short because tomorrow is the 4th and I'm sure eveyone is on the move or making plans. Like a turtle..moving slow but at least i'm moving forward.....

Its Tuesday so its about that time for a new post. What I really should be doing is getting ready for the Jay Z and Beyonce concert but you see the way my bank account is set up I have a checking and a saving...lol but for real I'm heated that I'm not going. But, gives me more time to work on the brand because everything happens for a reason.

This past weekend was very exciting because the T+T Mens Basketball League kicked off. Shout out to A Wade and Boz for the hard work! The shirts came in on time and they came out great. Being that beyourowndad is helping sponsor the event the website was put on the back of the shirts. On the website I was able to put the team rosters up, summer schedule, and stats for the games. Many people may be confused as to how the basketaball league relates to the brand. Easiest way to understand is explained within the sideline story segment I created. This segment allows players to share their goals for the summer and how they plan on achieving that goal. Because, don't forget beyourowndad is all about working thru your struggles and achieving your goals. The way players get chosen is decided on how they perform during their game. So keep in mind players if you get buckets you can be featured! Look for the finished video under the webisodes tab on the website coming very soon.

The games are held every Sunday at the Boys and Girls club in Taunton, Ma. Earliest game beginning at 3. Please come out to support!

The official wristsbands have yet to come in. I am very disappointed because I wanted to begin my promoting today. But, I just have to patiently wait for them. I ordered 1000+ so production takes some time according to the company. Once again, I will be passing the wristbands out as the summer continues so if anybody knows of any festivals or events within the New England area please let me know. As far as promoting goes though word of mouth is always the best way to spread the word. You don't have to explain the brand. Just pass on the website beyourowndad.com and the brand will explain itself.

The brand takes many months even years of hard work to get off the ground. We are still in the first month of the brand and the support has been phenomenal. The social media aspect for the brand is going along great. The twitter and instagram accounts still have very few followers so please follow and spread the word. Also, check out the facebook page and don't forget to like it!

As far as me I'm steadily working and thinking of new ideas. I want this summer to be life changing and I'm the only one that can decide whether it will be or not. You will be hearing from me Thursday! Stay tuned...
