Does Snoop Dogg's Coolaid taste as good as Beyonce's Lemonade?!? New Music Alert!!

Ok listen up #BYODFAM I've been checking out some new content that I have to put you guys up on! Specifically, I'm speaking to my Hip Hop brothers and sisters out there.

First off, Snoop Dogg just released a new album called Coolaide! Oooo that's not exciting to hear? Well, hold up let me tell you why this is good news!

As a millennial I grew up listening to Snoop Dogg. I'm not saying I'm his #1 fan but since I came out the womb in 1991 and by the time I started listening to music Snoop Dogg's been on top of the rap game. So, his music's been apart of my growth in Hip Hop.

His album Coolaide has been out for only 48 hours exclusively through Apple Music so there's no way in hell this could already be called a "classic" or #1 album. Album is set to be released July 1! But, I can say that his new sound on this album is going to get his name buzzin more than it already does. We're used to hearing Triple OG Snoop Dogg from Long Beach who's lyrics refer back to gang banging and his nuts. However, for the short time that I've listened to Coolaide I'm hearing this 2016 chill vibe that is heard in many rap songs now but Snoop puts his own laid back swag on it. He's talking that Snoop Dogg talk and delivering a message at the sametime. Something that's been missing in Hip Hop since the 90s. It's a 20 track album that delivers beats that make you bob your head. He's not doing too much on the beat which is key for me when listening to music. Don't you hate those artist that do everything but rap on a song! They will shout out there city, neighborhood, crew, and baby mama and still not spit any bars. It's those small things that I notice when listening to music.

Whether this review convinces you to listen to the whole album or not want I recommend a few tracks that will MAKE you think twice. The album has guest appearances from Too Short, E-40, Wiz Khalifa, and Swizz Beatz to name a few.

So you wanna be a gangsta?!?

Attention all wanna be gangstas or gangsters (whatever you wanna be labeled as)....this post is for your lost ass!

You don't like the way I began this post? Well good cuz the truth is ugly and it hurts! Do you copy what you see in movies? What about music videos? Do you portray a gangsta image and want to be treated and respected as a gangsta? If your environment forces you to act and move a certain way then I'm not talking to you! But, to the individuals fcopying the life of a gangsta when their life is all peaches and cream than this video is for you. I've been held at gun point and trust me it's not fun. Just like I know going to jail/prison sounds hard and respectable for street cred but once again it's NOT! 

Be Your Own Dad (BYOD) is about turning your negatives into positives. Once again I bring you the perfect example of someone who's had a negative life experience and has chosen to use that as a positive to help the younger generations before him.

#BYODFAM meet Tru Life! A man that was caught up in the "gangsta life" and forced to serve a eight year prison sentence for a crime he didn't do. Now that Tru is out of prison he's chosen to share his story in order to help get the message across that there is nothing fun about going to prison! Before I tell his story for him let me allow him to do the honors in the video below! We all can learn from his life story and help make a difference!

Independance Day Resurgence Red Carpet Premiere

Its twenty years later since the first Independence Day hit theatres in 1996. The technology in the 1990’s can’t be compared to the advances we see now in 2016, but the directors still had the audience on the edge of their seats in the original Independence Day. The question of the night for the red carpet premiere was “What can we expect differently from a technological point of view”? I guessed more flashing lights and big building blowing up perhaps? Well Jeff Goldblum and the writers couldn’t share what exact change they made but assured that it will be a great summer popcorn ride!

Now, we have the follow up sequel “Independence Day: Resurgence” returning with an almost original full cast. Jessie Usher who plays one of the lead characters Dylan Hiller is sure to bring a star studded performance. Usher who is staying busy with shows such as Survivors Remorse on Starz is a young face that you will continue to see as his career continues along. Dylan Hiller is the son of Captain Steven Hiller who was played by Will Smith in the first Independence Day.  Leading up to the red carpet there had been some talks on why Will Smith was not a part of the second production for this film. Bill Pullman and others mentioned Smith played a great role in the production much like every other character did but doesn’t take away any great success this movie will have. “Smith surely gave the movie his blessing, though”.

Lastly, the cast and trailer spill the beans that the aliens have been staying quiet for the past twenty years. Only to come back with twenty years of REVENGE! So to flip back to reality we had to ask the cast if aliens are even real? With mixed answers from the cast Producer and Composer Herald Kloser had the best answer to that question which was “I would like to meet an alien in my lifetime, just not these kinds!”Be sure to check out Independence Day: Resurgence in theatres this summertime!

I GOT THE KEYS! New Music Alert!

Major Key Alert! We have a summer hit on our hands from the anthem King himself DJ Khalad. Last night at the BET Awards Dj Khalad premiered his new song "I Got the Keys" featuring Jay Z and Future. If you follow him on any social media platforms than you would know he has his new album dropping this summer called Major Key and" I Got the Keys" is his first single off of it. The equation for a hit song right now is a catchy hook + Future + and Dj Khalad hollering in the back. I've seen this happen over and over. Safe to say this new song I Got the Keys will be a summer anthem! Check it out below

Jesse Williams steals the 2016 BET Awards

The BET Awards aired last night and Jesse Williams was one of the few entertainers that's stole the night. Williams is an American Actor known for his role for in the television series Greys Anatomy. Last night he was awarded the Humanitarian Award for his different contributions outside of his career. It wasn't his great acting skills that stole the show. It was the words that he spoke during his acceptance speech that made him a trending topic on social media last night and this morning. USA today reports "Jesse Williams takes racism to task in powerful BET Awards speech". Check out the speech below and share your comments! What did you think?

I personally applaud Jesse for not only avoiding the generic speech that many say but speaking on a topic that is so HOTT in this day and age. On my short time on this Earth I've witnessed the effects of when a person takes a stand and speaks out on injustices. Many will support and join that one person for taking the lead. Many will hate and despise that person. But, what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong and it's safe to say we as black people have been getting treated wrong too many times! Something must be done and Jesse Williams did something. Cheers to you brother!

From The Eastside With Love Season 2 Episode 24 & 25

FromTheEastWithLove Podcast has been very productive this past week. Kosher talks with former MLS employee Alan (He did not work for LAFC) about the Copa America tournament. Alan talks about how good of a side the Chile team is and how he felt like it was either Chile or Argentina that would have made it to the finals. Kosher and Alan go over Messi's miss and how that is gonna really haunt him being one of the greatest players of our generations. Alan & Kosher go over the future of the USMNT and how it looks bright with the consistency finally being there. On the flip side the technical aspect and IQ needs to be improved when going against better teams.

He also gives his take on the Rose to Knicks trade. Corey tells us if you check the numbers Rose’s last season is very similar to Clarkson’s as well. With UFC 200 around the corner, Corey gives his picks on who he believes is going to win and how he is excited for the card.

Back at it again with some motivation!

Listen, the Brilliant Idiots Podcast by Charamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz is deff on my top 5 podcast list. Both hosts keep it real and always dropping some knowledge! Charlamagne linked up with Steve Harvey this past weekend at a ranch and had a great time learning from Steve and mentoring kids. Charlamagne speaks about this during the podcast but he also touches upon a subject this is very close to me: studdering. Steve Harvey grew up with a studder (just learning this) and he conquered it. Much like a student that attended his mentor weekend had a severe case according to Charlamagne's description and by the end of the week he began to overcome it. This tells me if Steve did it then I can. Then they begin to speak about vertical and horizontal money which I can't explain myself so you have to watch the clip below!

What happens when you voice your goals into the world!?!

Lately, I've been having many issues within my personal life. Out of the ordinary events have been happening but I'm keeping my head up and pushing on. Today, I was able to cross a goal off my list that I've had for some time now. This may sound redicouolous but prior to moving to LA a year and a half ago, I told myself that I would meet Christina Milian. She's been my celebrity crush ever since I was 12, so work with me here.  Today at work I was able to finally meet her and she was cool just as I expected. Reason why I bring this up though is to give you guys an example of putting whatever you want into the world and it will come your way someway somehow. Now, I know some may say this was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time but what I said years ago actually happened.

Now, I found a video of an old Oprah Winfrey show episode and she had Kanye West on as a special guest. In this episode, Kanye explains to the audience that when he first met Oprah he told himself and her that he would be on her show. Three years later he was on her show! I want to share this with you guys to help you understand the power of voicing your goals and thoughts into the world. Remember, what you give out is what you will receive! Season 2 Episode 31: NBA Finals Game 3-5 Breakdown....Is the NBA RIGGED!?!

Jimmy V comes out swinging with some strong sentiments about how the NBA finals have been played so far. Both Kosher and Jimmy V give major props to James and Irving holding it down for the Cavs in game 5. Lebron shows what he can do what he doesn’t have to worry about Draymond being in the game. Kosher still doesn’t believe Curry deserves the MVP. Kosher believes Warriors close it out in Cleveland with the return of Green. Jimmy V thinks Warriors will close it out in 7.

Brush with death

Here I am...with a gash in my head. I'm ashamed, I'm maybe in shock still, I don't know what to feel. I watched a interview with Kevin Hart today on the Breakfast Club and he said your audience wants to see behind the curtain of your life. So here it is: TONIGHT I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE. It's 5:48 in the morning on June 11, 2016 and tonight I got caught slipping. At first I wasn't going to share this with anyone because I keep things very discreet. I'm a man of pride and this hit me deep. But, my writer side is telling me this needs to be heard. My creative side wants to mentally paint this picture for you. This isn't just about me. It's about using my life as an example for others to learn from.

There I was....Two guys pulled up in a car and hop out pointing a gun straight at me. First instinct tells me duck and to get away. But as I try to get away,I get hit in the head. As I fight off the guys, I fall back.  As I fall, left hand is up is trying to protect myself and right hand is trying to keep my balance. My heart is beating out of my chest. My thought in my head is "Damn, this is it!" As I stare down the barrel of the gun.  

Here I am, just a 24 year old chasing a dream. Working overnights to pay the bills and hustling during the day. Going to auditions, hosting red carpets, taking classes, and doing all you have to do to make it in the entertainment world in California. Your listening to a man who's mentally wrote his name on a Hollywood Walk Of Fame star. I'm building my brand Be Your Own Dad that delivers something that you don't see a lot on social media: positive content to help motivate yourself and others. I'm here to build something and to leave for my family. I created a platform that can help others. That's my good that I thought we do as people. Right....we put IN the world what we expect OUT. 

But, even though we do good, or think we do good, we still get tested. We get raddled. We get pushed to a point where it's you or life. Will you let life win? I chuckle because Charlamagne Tha God can relate to me in a sense but his success speaks for the number of tests life has given him. New levels, bring you new problems. Just like Biggie said "Mo Money Mo Problems" right?

So, was this a gang initiation? Did they want to rob me? Kill Me? Do they even know who I am? Did I deserve this?!? Whatever the case is, I'm still standing. After falling, I get up and start to run. Praying in my head that I don't hear a gun shot. I feel blood running from my head as I get away. The two guys get back in their car and drive off. Left me with a question that I can't answer myself: WHY?      

So, I don't write this looking for sympathy nor any type of grievance. I've contemplated back and forth whether to put myself out here like this but there's a bigger picture to be seen. Just know, 11 staples later and I'm still here breathing and dream chasing. I write this as a testimony of someone that is going to overcome life's obstacles and keep it pushing. I shared this to help comfort others that go through the many different events in life that try to literally make us throw in the white towel. Now I ask you to share this to help anyone you may know going through lifes' tests.

The LA Film Festival premiere of “Kicks"

The LA Film Festival premiere of “Kicks” directed by Justin Tipping was recently held at ArcLight Cinemas in Culver City. All fans and family came out to support the modern day version of The Wood.  “Kicks” is a classic story that any sneaker fan will relate too. Notorious B.I.G said “Mo Money, Mo Problems” is the motto when it comes to people hating on what you have. Ironically, this film features the son of the legendary rapper CJ Wallace. With a phenomenal remaining cast of Jahking Guillory, Christopher Meyer, Kofi Siriboe, and Mahershala Ali this we be sure to deliver.

Director Justin Tipping was inspired by a true life event of when he was robbed for his shoes at a younger age. Years later, he’s turned that experience into a film that will go down as a classic. “Kicks” is about realities of inner-city life, the concept of manhood and the fetishization of sneaker culture. The cast consist of Jahking Guillory, Christopher Meyer, CJ Wallace, Kofi Siriboe, and Mahershala Ali.

Eurweb’s own Jimmy V was on the red carpet talking it up with the cast about sneakers and what message they want this film to give out. The scenario was: It’s a Friday night and you’re on the way to the mall. What brand of sneakers are you purchasing Jordan, Nike, or Adidas? The cast was a mixed group with answers of all 3 brands but they knew once you put the sneakers on you felt like a new man. This feeling is what’s going to connect the audience with one another. This is a young cast with a lot of positive energy that’s going to deliver a positive message to all their fans.

From the Streets to the Octagon...R.I.P Kimbo Slice

I remember being in High School in TV studio class surfing videos on Youtube. We weren't supposed to but who listens to teachers when the internet is at your fingertips. Anyway, "Back Yard brawls" was always the topic to search. Something about watching fights with your classmates always helps the class go by faster. Kimbo Slice videos were always the first to watch.

We currently live in a time where using the Internet is a clear way to showcase your talents hoping to get noticed. But, back in the 00s when YouTube first began it was just a platform to watch entertaining videos. This is when the world was introduced to Kimbo Slice! Fast forward to today, it's been a very rough month being that many known figures are passing away. Just a few days ago we lost the great Muhammad Ali. This weekend (June 3-5) was pretty exciting as far as news. I didn't do much this weekend so I was caught up in the outside world. The legend Muhammad Ali had passed away unfortunately. A man that cant be compared to anyone else. In Hip Hop we have new Jay Z, Drake, Dj Khaled, and Gucci songs out. So you better update that summer '16 playlist. Lastly, Game 2 of the NBA Finals was today and you know I had to give my 2 cents on it. Cavs what happened?!?  Check all this out in episode 30 of FTESWL below!
