Gone Away on Vacation...See you when I get back!

Hey #BYODFAM this week is my beautiful mother's birthday and we are celebrating the right way. Time for a vacation! So, due to the location of our vacation and myself really just needing to get away from the virtual internet world there will be limited blog posts this week. I'll be returning at the end of the week March 3rd and will resume blogging. Until, then i'll be taking as many pics and videos to share with you guys when I return. "Moonlight' Wins Best Picture In a Awkward Way

The Oscars became the trending topic for the wrong reason last night. 'MoonLight' won the Best Picture Award beating out 'La La Land' but it was AWKWAAARD! Actor Warren Beatty replicated exactly what Steve Harvey did last year in 2016 when announcing the winner of the Miss Universe pageant. Warren Beatty announced the film "La La Land" won the Best Picture Award and the cast and crew all came on stage to celebrate and say their speeches.

It wasn't until one of the producers of 'La La Land" stopped the celebration and awarded the cast of 'Moonlight" because the award card clearly said 'Moonlight" was the winner. I'm willing to bet any money Steve Harvey himself has the biggest sigh of relief when watching this LOL. I'm sure he even said something along the lines of "at least i'm not the only one" LOL. Remy Ma Diss Track "Shetha" (Nicki Minaj Diss)

I knew it was coming!! Two people can't claim to be the best without having to go head to head. Since Remy Ma came back into the Hip Hop Game she's been running things. There's always a lot of talk when Nicki Minaj would rap on a track and make subliminal shots at the "queen of the rap game". Nicki Minaj even had a record a few months ago called Black Barbie which took shots at Remy Ma. Now, a few days ago Nicki was featured on another track with Jason Derulo titled "Swalla" where she was taking shots again at Remy Ma!

Now, I can only get pushed once or twice before I have to push back. And, I know i'm not the only one like that. Remy Ma finally released a diss track today titled "Shether" where she raps over Nas's iconic Either track. MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!! Remy came with the FIRE!!!!! After listening to the track its clear that Remy did her research on Nicki Minaj. Question is will Nicki Minaj come back with something to top this? Guess we have to wait to find out. Jimmy V as Theo Smithton in "Company Town" on The Unproduced Table Read

This post is for any inspiring film writers out there. I recently became apart of Popcorn Talk which is a sub-division of the Afterbuzz Network that covers conversations about all movies and film. Yesterday, I sat on one of the newest shows titled "The Unproduced Table Read" which the hosts have a table read of scripts that haven't been produced. There is a lot of great work in the entertainment industry that doesn't make it to the big screen. Over at Popcorn Talk we give writers the chance to have their script heard to an audience and also possibly get picked up.

The script we cover on this weeks show is titled "Company Town". Big s/o to the writer Samantha Levenshus for allowing us to bring her script to life. The setting of the story takes place in 1894 during a time where blacks and white were not equal . I read lines for the character Theo Smithton who is a 24 year old African American that works for the owners of a train station. My character is in love with a white woman which at the time was against the law. When others learn of this relationship things get real heated between the character. Future Releases ANOTHER New Project Titled "HNDRXX"

Future just released his new project titled "FUTURE" last week Feb 17. This week he's back with another project titled "HNDRXX". Future has released two projects in a matter of two weeks and from the sound of them both he's putting pressure on the rap game. "FUTURE" is a 17 record project featuring only himself. The majority of the songs on the project have a similar sound to his 2015 hit summer project "DS2 (Dirty Sprite 2)" If your looking to turn up to his original trap music sound than "FUTURE" is the go to album.

"HNDRXX" on the other hand gives a complete opposite sound from what "FUTURE" provides. "HNDRXX" gives a more slowed down R&B vibe similar to his hit single "Turn Off The Lights" from a few years ago. Future has always been able to create what some may say love trap songs. "HNDRXX" is a another 17 record project featuring artist such as Rihanna and The Weeknd. The records on this album have a slow vibe and Future touches on topics such as relationships and growth. I've listened to the albums a few times now and my favorites thus far are "Incredible", "Testify" and "Fresh Air". I'm sure the record that will be getting multiple radio spins is "Selfish" featuring Rihanna.

The Rap Game Season 3 Episode 5 Review & After Show | AfterBuzz TV

Love & Hip Hop: New York Season 7 Episode 15 Reunion Part 1 Aftershow

President's Day Music Playlist-New Albums This Week

This past weekend a few dope albums dropped and I took the time to listen to them. I'll say they were all creatively different from one another. This weekend served up something for both rap fans and trap-rap fans. Future released a new 17 record project titled "FUTURE" featuring only himself. Jidenna released his debut album "The Chief" which is a 14 song project featuring artist such as Janelle Monae and Nana Kwabena. Lastly, Fat Joe and Remy Ma released their joint album "Plato O Plomo" a 12 track project with features from French Montana, Sevyn Streeter and more! Danielle Bregoli aka "Catch Me Outside, How Bout Dat" was a straight A and B Student! Find Out More In This Interview with Big Boy In The Neighborhood

Imagine being a regular 13-year old one day to a viral hit sensation the next day all from 6 words: "Catch Me Outside, how bout dat!" Danielle Bregoli's life has changed dramatically within the past year over her sit down interview on the Dr. Phil Show. Danielle's mother Barbra was tired of her daughter stealing everything of hers including her own car. So she reached out to Dr. Phil for help. After a number of times writing to the show they reached back to her and brought both Danielle and Barbra on the show.

A couple months later since the sit down Danielle is now "famous" and living in the moment. She is on a press tour speaking with various media sites and now featured in Rap Star Kodak Black videos. In this interview she reveals that she was a straight A and B student in school and wanted to be a nurse. Throwback Album Of The Week

 Nas - Illmatic 

The "Illmatic" album is wildly known as one of the best debut rap albums of all time. After listening to the album it's hard to debate against that statement. I was personally too young to listen to it when it was first released but I still remember the first time I heard it all the way through. It was around 2002 and I downloaded it on limewire, during the good old days of dial up. It took about 6 hours to download the whole thing and it was worth it. I couldn't stop listening to it, the album was on repeat for about a month. If I felt this way 8 years after it was first released than I can only imagine the feeling people felt back in 1994.

   The album "Illmatic" is full of hits, there isn't one song that I would skip, but the one song that stands out for me is "Life's a Bitch." Its a smooth song where AZ and Nas just speak on their life up to that present point. The best part in the song for me is the trumpet solo at the end by Nas's father, Olu Dara (former jazz player), its smooth melody just takes me to a state of relaxation.  It takes me to those lazy summer days driving around with the windows down just enjoying the sun. Which is weird in a way because the record is about life being a bitch but it takes me to the days I enjoy the most. Many other rap fans mention the song "New York state of Mind," is their favorite record. This track is where Nas is just speaking on what he sees on the New York streets he grew up on . The album also features a record called "One Love," which is Nas writing a letter to a friend who's locked up in prison. The last verse of the song was even featured in the movie "Belly," that Nas co-produced for.

   This album put Nas' powerful story telling on display.  There isn't any other emcee that can tell stories better than him; maybe some at his caliber but nobody in the history of the game is better. He proved that throughout the years with his other albums, but "Illmatic" was the one that started it all and is, in my opinion, his greatest project. If you want to know what a 10/10 rating is for a rap album than "Illmatic" is the one . And, for all the hip hop fans who haven't heard the album....do yourself a favor and go listen to it now! But don't only listen to the album but open your ears and really listen to it.

Just The Struggles of a Young Black Brotha

Mannnnn, I've been thinking a lot lately. I just got off work from the overnight grind. I've been doing a lot of self reflection. Asking myself questions like: "What am I doing with my life", "Am I moving in the right direction", "Will I EVER get a big break"? I try to stay positive and always keep faith that things will work out in the end. And I truly believe they will. But, being patient is the HARD part.

I'm thankful for this blog and my readers because I don't have to keep all this in my head. Valentine's Day was yesterday and now I'm stuck in my feelings wondering if I'll ever find the right woman. Maybe I attract the wrong woman? I'm afraid that I'll be one of those highly successful guys with a bunch of materialistic things and no woman to share the goods with. Like a big ass mansion all to myself. What fun is that?!? I've had those thoughts a few times believe it or not.

Then I see employees that have been at my job as long as I've been alive! Then I'm thinking "what the hell, I pray that's not me!" I can't see myself giving my precious Years on this earth to a company that pays me barely 45k a year. No way!

I want to build my own business and the whole 9 but I don't know how. I continue to read books and watch videos but there's always a small voice in my head saying "you should have someone older teach you all this." But, growing up without a dad has made me use to having to self educate myself on everything. It sure would make things easier tho if I had someone that's been there and done that.

Exclusive Interview and Freestyle with Deetranada of The Rap Game Season 3

When Jermaine Dupri visited the studio prior to the season premiere he mentioned if the competition was strictly about BARS than Deetranada would win hands down. I'm a fan of Deetranada because she puts real thought into her lyrics which makes you think about what she really is trying to say. Similies and metaphors is her game and she's good at it. New Walka Flocka "Was My Dawg" (Gucci Man Diss)

#BYODFAM it's about that time of the year for ANOTHER rap beef ! Now, I don't buy into the Chris Brown Vs Soulja Boy beef all that much. I think it's just a argument that turned into a big publicity stunt to push their music.

What we have today is some real beef! It's beef so serious that neither party likes to speak on. Walka Flocka and Gucci Mane were one time brothers on the rise. They worked on projects together and helped build Atlanta to be the go-to rap city it is now.  At some point they split ways and now haven't spoken to one another in over 4 years. I've watched a few different interviews from both sides and neither rapper shares what happen (honoring the street code) between each other but don't allow it to stop them from grinding. Which it shouldn't. Granted, Gucci Mane appears to be a much different person after his release from prison but his relationships are the same. I don't know much more about the two rappers beef but Walka Flocka recently dropped a new record titled "Was My Dawg" taking shots at Gucci Mane. In a recent interview Walka Flocka said the track wasn't made specifally for Gucci but his lyrics say otherwise. Check it out below and let me know what you think in the comments!

Big Sean "I Decided" BYOD Album Review

Big Sean has come out with another project and he doesn't disappoint his fans. Big Sean has always been overlooked when it comes to the top MC's rap debate but he consistently creates good music; and his lyrical ability is always on display. This new album "I Decided" did not turn out to be any different. The MC was even left out of the trash list of Top 10 MC's for 2016 that was released by an anonymous messy rap fan (which gained a lot of attention) back in December '16 but that's a topic for another time. 

Big Sean's new album has a good mix of deep songs such as "Light," "Halfway off the balcony," and "Bigger Than Me." But, also has records you can turn up to such as "Bounce Back," and "Sacrifices." 

The album is a gem for sure and in my opinion his best project to date.

The artist features on the album bring an extra spice along the ride. With artist like the Migos, who are on fire right now with their album "Culture," Jeremih, The Dream, and even The Flint Chozen Choir. The feature I was most excited about was Eminem on "No Favors," but when I first heard the track initially his verse had me so lost I couldn't understand what he was even talking about. His verse was just a bunch of fire punchlines and metaphors that didn't have any meaning to it. Even while reading the lyrics I couldn't understand where he was going with it. He usually doesn't drop the ball but Eminem catches a huge L for that verse. He made what could've been the best song on the album into something that's skip worthy right after Big Sean's verse. Editor Jimmy V was in complete disagreement with me about the Eminem verse but that's a different conversation.

  "I Decided," shows Big Sean's maturation in the rap game and a steady improvement throughout his career. Every album has been better than the last and that's all you can ask from an artist. I give this album an A-, If you haven't heard it yet I recommend you do, you won't be disappointed.

Flau'jae of Season 3 of The Rap Game-Interview and Exclusive Freestyle

Season 3 of The Rap Game has shown us the next generation is full of talent! Flau'jae of Savannah, Georgia is definitely a leader for her generation and she's coming for the SoSo Deff contract and chain in this new season. In her recent interview on The Rap Game Aftershow on Afterbuzz Network she shared with my co-host and I how life has changed since being on The Rap Game. Flau'jae is the youngest contestant in the Rap Game house this season but she sure is putting pressure on the other contestants especially after being #1 on the hit list in the most recent episode. Flau'jae is the daughter of down south rapper Camoflauge who was murdered prior to her birth. Just like the BYOD motto she uses her negative as positives and represents her father in her swag (check picture below) and keeps him in mind when spitting bars. Tom Brady Super Bowl LI Post Press Conferance

Wow! What a Super Bowl to remember! Let me be the first to say: "It's not easy being a Patriots Fan"! Especially living on the west coast. Watching this Super Bowl facing off against the Atlanta Falcons had my heart beating out of my chest. My emotions were up, down, round and round! Had a Anti Patriot hater to the right of me the whole game and he was talking the most sh*t! Every caught  ball, every first down, every touchdown I would hear some more talk about being overrated and blah blah blah! But, I kept faith because I know what my team is capable of. I remember two years ago the Pats were down 28-0 against the Denver Broncos at half time and they came back and won that game! So I knew a comeback was possible. Such a crazy game that will go down in history. Tom Brady had to over come a 25 point deficit! Brady was being outplayed the first 3 quarters and had to play a perfect 4th quarter which is safe to say that he accomplished that. Tom Brady put on a legendary 4th quarter performance earning himself his 5th championship! THE MOST BY ANY QUARTERBACK EVER!

After the regular season I posted a spoof of Tom Brady (played by I) answering to a press conference with a Denzel spoof added to it. This time around I produced a part 2 presss conference that takes places after winning the Super Bowl. Hope you guys enjoy it:

John Wick 2 Sit Down Interview and Exclusive Training Video With Stunt Team

Keanu Reeves is back again as John Wick for another round of an insane amount of gun fighting and muscle car driving. It’s safe to say the action in this film will keep you in your seat asking for more and more.  Director Chad Stahelski adds another chapter to his John Wick series with the follow up sequel “John Wick: Chapter 2” and this time it’s worldwide. Stahelski takes the story to Rome by expanding the idea of an assassin’s guild being in every major country.

The official meet up center for the hit man headquarters takes place in Rome where John Wick finds the world’s deadliest assassins. The conclusion of the first film showed John Wick retiring from the assassin world. This second chapter takes place right after the crazy events of the first film and John Wick is coming out of retirement for more killing. Now, Wick must face the repercussions of his actions in this second chapter.

Fans of the hit series film “Matrix” may be pleased after learning that Laurence Fishburne joins the cast as well as other names like Common (Barbershop 3) and Ruby Rose (Orange Is The New Black). Reeves and Fishburne had the media raving at the Los Angeles Premiere recently taking pictures on the “Black Carpet” calling it a Matrix reunion. “John Wick: Chapter 2” can now be seen in select theatres and will be released nationwide February 10, 2017.

Lee O'Demat (Q Of WorldstarHipHop) Is One Of The Great Black inventors Of The 20th Century

Today is February 1st, the first day of Black History Month. I had thoughts of giving my #BYOFAM a history lesson of the many great things that African Americans have accomplished and invented. So, instead of writing a list myself I did research and found a list already made. What I'm deciding to do is to recognize a fellow Haitian brother that has made his mark in this world. Lee O'Denat, known as Q, the founder of WorldStarHipHop.com - was taken from us recently at the age of 43. I didn't have the chance to meet him personally but all of his peers and family speak very highly of him. After watching many interviews of the CEO I came to understand that he began creating websites for the sole purpose of distributing music mixtapes. Now, his current site worldstarhiphop.com that is known for the most viral outrageous videos receives over 50 million visits per month and has a rough estimate of being worth over 5,000,000.00. I cant forget to mention the iconic battle cry/slogan that is said in every video "WORLDSTAR!. I personally recommend Q of WorldStarHipHop to be recognized as a great inventor of the 20th century. Rest In Peace. May his legacy live on for generations to come.

In a recent video on his site worldstarhiphop the production team compiled Q's top 5 inspirational quotes to live by - I wanted to share with my #BYODFAM
