FTESWL Season 3 Episode 14 The Journey

This weeks episode on the FTESWL Podcast was supposed to be centered around the NBA playoffs and the impact that Instagram has made on the market. Love and Hip Hop Season 8 Episode 6 Aftershow

The show Love and Hip Hop Atlanta continues to get worse as the season continues on. As a host for the official aftershow I can say that it's been fun but painful to watch. But, it continues to be one of the highest rated watched shows on the VH1 network. So, what conclusion can we come to my #BYODFAM?.....America and other countries love watching black people act up and live out these crazy story lines. It really is a shame because there are shows that educate their audiences on business, health and wealth, and other useful life tips on air that don't receive the same viewership as this sorry excuse for a show. What shows you may ask? I can't think of any right now but take YouTube channel entrepreneur Gary Vee for example. His content is helpful and REAL and doesn't receive the numbers that Love and hip hop receives.

Idk just felt like venting real quick. Anywho, check out the aftershow for the latest episode of Love and Hip Hop. My co-host and I had a fun time on set filming this.

Little Sabrina-Red Shaydez

Red Shaydez is a rising independent artist out of Boston, Ma. She has a unique way of story telling through her rhymes that brings her audience to their feet. Her most recent record "Little Sabrina" tackles the consequences of young teenage girls wanting to grow up too fast. In her first verse Shaydez raps about the current instagram era that we are living in. The unfortunate perception of a 14 year old teenager appearing as a 20 year old woman on instagram is real. The visual for "Little Sabrina" creatively demonstrates the reality of many young girls today. In the end, Little Sabrina is a victim of her own actions and the record tells it all. I am lucky to have been able to share my college years with Red Shaydez. I distinctly remember first meeting Red Shaydez during my freshman year and she shared her passion for music with me. She's been grinding independently way before meeting me and her hard work is paying off. Be on the lookout for her in the future!

Good Morning #BYODFAM and Happy Monday

Today, I'm not really feeling all too motivational. Meaning, I don't have anything positive or uplifting to share with you guys. Idk what it is. But, I wanted to be sure to wish you guys a great start to your work week. Some people may already be on their 2nd day of work so to those people I say keep the grind going.

My weekend consisted of shooting some sketches and shooting my scenes for the webseires "Doggish" (I think that's how it's spelled) that I'm involved in. The web series is being filmed now and I'm excited for you guys to see it soon.

I pan on listening to some mixtape J.Cole today to help me get inspired and motivated. His records as he was just beginning to get noticed often motivate me. I also have have an aftershow to do today so that's what my day is looking like.

Remember to smile today because you're blessed! And, I'll talk to you in another post! Deuces!

Charlamagne Tha God "Black Privilege" Book Signing in LA

First off Happy 4/20 my fellow puff puff passers out there. This year I'm not with the fun so blow one in the air for ya boy.

As mentioned last week in a blog post I planned to purchase Charlamagne Tha God's new book "Black Privilege". Since the release of the book this past Tuesday Charlamagne has been on a press tour book signing and today he was located at the Barnes and Noble at The Grove here in LA. I'm about a half hour drive away from The Grove so I said I mind as well go check it out. I personally have been a fan of Charlamagne since the start of his job on The Breakfast Club. I even remember watching him on MTV's Guy Code and agreeing with everything he said 80% of the time.

So, back to the visit. The turn out at the book store was great. I was told I purchased one of the last copies of his book. There was at least a good 200 people there. During the Q&A segment I was picked on to ask him a question. I was able to ask him the BYOD question: what was his best story of turning a negative situation into a positive. He shared the moment in time where he was attacked in front of his job one morning in New York. "Fans" or more like haters asked him for a drop (a sound bite) for their outlet and they ended up attacking him. C Tha God flipped that situation by speaking on it and making shirts off it. He even turned a profit lol check out the video below!

As he was signing books legendary rapper NORE of the Drink Champs Podcast came through to support. That was cool to see people within the industry step out to support another entertainer. I was able to pay respect to NORE and kept it moving. I got my book signed and told Charlamagne just earlier in the week I was interviewing Lil Duval on the red carpet and spoke about Grow House. Before leaving I told C Tha God that he doesn't know me yet but it's a matter of time. He gave me daps and said no doubt. Now, I'm gonna read his book and apply whatever knowledge he shares to my own grind. See you guys next post!

Kendrick Lamar DAMN. Album Review

Everyone has been buzzing over Kendrick Lamar's new album "DAMN." There's talks of this album "DAMN" being his best project up to date. There's talks of Kendrick being the greatest to ever step in the booth! (I disagree) There's also talks of another album being released just days after DAMN is released. Whether or not any of these statements are true it's safe to say that people are talking! Also, the numbers are certainly backing up all the talk. This new project is projected to go Gold within its first week out. A difficult goal for any artist to achieve.

Aaron Hernandez Found Dead in his cell-R.I.P to former New England Patriots Tight End

Crazy news this morning! Former Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his cell this morning. I wasn't even going to report this on my blog but I grew up watching New England Patriots Games every Sunday, Monday, or Thursday. And, I was for sure doing the money dance whenever Aaron Hernandez scored a touchdown or did a big play. I would run around saying #81 is this or that. Basically, I was a fan of his football game!

Everything outside of football is very sad and unfortunate. But, every man needs to deal with the consequences of their decisions at some point in life. Aaron faced his consequences at a young age in front of the whole world. Rest In Peace to a great athlete.

Grow House LA Movie Premiere

Last Night I attended the "Grow House" LA movie premiere featuring two of my favorite comedians Deray Davis and Lil Duval. This premiere was the best premiere I've ever attended hands down! I'll tell you why....

I interviewed both stars of the film: Deray Davis and Lil Duval. I could tell Deray wasn't in a interview mode but I had to ask him at least one question. Afterwards I was able to share a dope moment with Lil Duval by reciting one of his earlier comedy sets with him which was his version of Musiq Soulchild's "Just Friends" retitled as "You is my Girlfriend". As a teenager I would watch Duval perform that stand up piece over and over on YouTube. Crazy to think years later I was able to recite it with him. Check it out in the footage below. I also interviewed Instagram Influencer/Actor Juhahn Jones about his latest projects and what to expect next!

Now after the carpet is when the real fun began. I ran into everyone's favorite Uncle Snoop Dogg! Snoop has a role in the film which he plays himself. In the theatre Snoop was kickin it with the producer of the film legendary DJ Pooh. For those that aren't familiar with DJ Pooh let me remind you that he was a fellow creator of the classic movie Friday and played the character "Red" in Friday who is known for getting his chain snatched by Debo. Ring a bell yet?

After finally taking a seat in the theatre Big Boy of Big Boy's Neighborhood comes out and introduces the film as the audience went wild. Once the lights went off....flames were ignited and blunts were lit! Granted, I know Grow House is about two friends coming together to start growing weed. So, I knew some smoking on the carpet and around the event would happen. But, when I saw nothing but smoke rising as the credits began on the movie I couldn't help but laugh lmao. I look to my left and see Lil Duval is puffing on a big ass weed cigar. I look ahead and see blunts in rotation being passed down the aisles lol. I know for a fact Snoop Dogg was puffing on something in the back of the theatre wherever he was sitting. 5 minutes into the film all you hear is laughter and caughing LMAO.

The film itself is funny. Reminded me of Dave Chapelles first film half baked. I wouldn't say the film is as funny as the classic "Friday" but it is worth getting up with some people, rolling up some weed, and catching some good laughs. The film is set to release nationwide on the uncertified holiday for smoking weed 4/20 aka April 20th.

J.Cole 4 Your Eyez Only A Dreamville Film

Good Morning #BYODFAM and Happy Monday! This past weekend platinum recording artist J.Cole released the visual project for his fourth album "4 Your Eyez Only".

This visual for his latest project is like no other due to the fact that J. Cole isn't the sole focus. Cole travels around different areas of the south with a camcorder recording normal day to day activities of everyday people.The camera serves as "a set of eyes" for the audience to sit in on the conversations that Cole experience. In this documentary you will hear conversations about addressing the incidents around the killings of unarmed black teens, how to make change in your community with your own voice, and viewing actual footage of one of Cole's home getting raided. Along with mini visuals for certain records from his latest album this documentary will help share the conversations black people have on a daily basis. BYOD Sports: 2017 NBA Playoff Preview: 1st round predictions

#7 Indiana Pacers vs. #2 Cleveland Cavaliers: The Cavs didn’t finish the season very strong and dropped to the #2 seed in the east, setting them up with a tough matchup against Paul George and the underachieving Pacers. Indiana has a chance to turn a disappointing season around with no pressure on them to win the series. This could be an interesting series with the matchups at hand but you can’t go against Lebron around this time of year and I just don’t see the Pacers winning a game on the road, which is key in a series like this.

CLEVELAND IN 5

#6 Milwaukee Bucks vs. #3 Toronto Raptors: Jason Kidd’s Bucks look to upset the tough but not really Raptors with running up and down the floor. The Raptors look to get back to the Eastern conference finals with arguably one of the best back courts in the league, and with Drake the ambassador in attendance by making his presence known slapping hands with every player on the roster. He might just make a pregame speech this year which would be comedy. This series screams upset to me but at the same time the Raptors have a better bench which is important against a team that likes to fly in transition. Although, if the Greek Giannis balls out along with upcoming and possibly the rookie of the year in Malcolm Brogdon, they could be a dangerous bunch that commits turnovers and capitalizes. But if you rely on scoring off of turnovers in the playoffs and don’t have a strong half court set when the game slows down, you cross into trouble.

TORONTO IN 6

#8 Chicago Bulls vs. #1 Boston Celtics: The Celtics surprised the world with their finish at the tippity top of the eastern conference. (surprised me too) But seeding doesn’t mean too much when you get deep into May. The Celtics pride themselves on defense and do a great job of turning teams over along with an offense led by the lil guard ready to go to war every second of the game. The haters want Isaiah to fail soooo bad saying he won't be effective in the playoffs because of his small stature but I think his heart to win will be displayed these playoffs. They go against a tough minded bulls team with average talent on the roster. They’re led by Jimmy Butler who should be in a green uniform (hopefully we see that soon), and an old man in Dwyane Wade who could still get you 28 on a real good night. The Celtics are a weak rebounding team making this matchup a weird one since the bulls are very efficient in that category.

#5 Atlanta Hawks vs. #4 Washington Wizards: The Hawks come into the series with a balanced offensive and defensive team but you can say the same for the red hot Wizards. This is interesting series to me, and I say that not because it’s a 4-5 matchup but simply cuz Dwight Howard is playing and has shown glimpses of his old self. When he’s on top of his game the Hawks look like a top 2 team in the conference. I like the way John Wall has been playing, and his matchup with Schroder could end up with fists flying because of how competitive they are and seem to enjoy chattin on the court. I like the Wizard’s ability to score with Beal and Porter alongside Wall in this series.

WASHINGTON IN 7

#8 Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors: Kevin Durant has returned to the Warriors lineup but we’ll see how effective he can be against playoff defense coming off that knee injury he suffered late in the regular season. With or without Durant, the Warriors are still dangerous. The Blazers come into the playoffs without real fire power but it should be entertaining to see Damian Lillard’s attempt to throw the squad on his back as he usually does. I honestly can’t see the Blazers winning a game in this series though.

GOLDEN STATE IN 4

#5 Utah Jazz vs. #4 Los Angeles Clippers: The Jazz slipped their way into the #5 spot with a solid season led by Gordon Hayward who's averaging a lowkey 21 ppg. Chris Paul (my dawg) looks to capitalize on another opportunity for a playoff run and try to advance to his first conference title series. I like his chances with the Clippers under the radar and could surprise some teams down the road. Blake Griffin is the X factor to every series moving on. If he can play at an elite level, they’ll be a strong squad to deal with.

LA IN 5

#7 Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs: The Grizzlies are always a physical team that tries to wear you down defensively while looking to pound the ball inside on the offensive end. Marc Gasol is still one of the top centers in the game but he’ll go against great defense as well in Pop’s system. The Spurs have a championship caliber roster along with a youthful image this time around led by superstar Kawhi Leonard. Lamarcus Aldridge could be the man he was a couple seasons ago when he was in Portland. If that’s the case you can catch the Spurs in the finals once again in this era.

SAN ANTONIO IN 7

#6 Oklahoma City Thunder vs. #3 Houston Rockets: The Rockets broke records this season for 3 pointers made and look to outscore their opponents led by MVP candidate James Harden. They don’t play much defense but look to clamp down as they prepare to take on the all time leader in triple doubles/MVP of the league in Russell Westbrook. We’ve witnessed Westbrooks dawg mentality all season. He looks for blood every game so don’t think he’s going to turn it down anytime soon. These old friends Westbrook and Harden should make this an interesting series, along with Pat Beverly covering Westbrook with their past run ins.

Season Finale of The Rap Game Season 3 Aftershow

Congratulations to NOVA from Reading, PA who has won season 3 of The Rap Game!

It's been a long 13 weeks but watching and reviewing every episode was well worth the wait. This season of The Rap Game in my opinion was the most fun and entertaining. We filmed our final season 3 Aftershow for the show and had plenty to talk about. From Nova winnng the So-so Deff chain & contract, the performances, and King Risco trying to kiss Flaujae we covered it all in this Aftershow! Gary Vee and Charlamagne The God on Black Privilege

Good Morning #BYODFAM, it's Monday. A new week of possibilities are ahead of you and I. Just have to stay ready for them. As I sit here at work waiting to get off I decided to catch up on one of my favorite people for the past few months which is Gary Vee. His latest content has one of my favorite radio personalities on his AskGaryVee show: Charlamagne The God. Being a faithful Power 105 Breakfast Club listener I've watched Charlamagne rub people the wrong way but that's what makes him so unique. He's not afraid to ask the awkward questions that listeners would want asked. He also asks the most rediculous questions because he understands crazy questions will increase views and clicks for his platform. Or, he really wants to know if his guest eats ass lol. Anyway, that's just how the entertainment business is.

In support of Charlamagne's upcoming book "Black Privilege" (which I plan on purchasing and recommend my #BYODFAM too) I am going to share Gary Vee's episode featuring Charlamagne. I do believe there is such a thing called Black Privilege. It's falls right in line with the BYOD message of changing a negative into a positive. To me Black privelage is the reminder that there are many obstacles to face and overcoming those obstacles is what gives me my power. Both Gary and Charlamagne make great points about patience and learning from every experience. I also picked up a feeling of appreciation from both hosts. Appreciation for not only life which they mention but progress. Many of us want the end result of a million dollars or million followers but forget to appreciate what we already have. Whether it's 2 followers or dollars. Hence, why I'm so thankful for the readers of this blog because I remember when I was the only one reading my posts. We must appreciate where we are now and still strive for more. Let me stop though....be sure to check the episode below.

10. Michael Floyd WR- The Patriots scooped him up 2 days after his DUI arrest and release from the Cardinals. Made a kill shot block to free Edelman up in a late in season game against the Dolphins that was memorable. I think he can still ball but it’s a matter of who’s going to take that risk of trusting him to stay out of trouble off the field

9. Jay Cutler QB- When every 2016 Bear’s quarterback is signed for the upcoming 2017 season besides Jay Cutler this deep in free agency, means teams have no interest in his bunk leadership. I think Jay Cutler has some talent but when players aren’t a big fan of you in the locker room as a starting quarterback, it’s going to be tough to find a new job as the captain of the offense. I think Houston should take a chance on him since Romo claims he plans to retire.

8. Jamaal Charles RB- Jamaal Charles is a risk for teams considering to sign him because of his past injuries. He’s recently coming off a meniscus tear in his knee but has prior acl tears earlier in his career. With all that said though, I think he’ll bounce back as usual, so teams should truly consider him adding to the roster but not as a feature back. I think he’d be a good fit in Philly with the type of offense they run.

7. Anquan Boldin WR- I have a good feeling that he’s still a dawg on the field so teams should consider taking him. He’s smart physical veteran receiver that could really help offenses in the redzone.

6. Nick Mangold C- Was arguably the best center in football a few seasons ago playing under Rex Ryan, but has left in search for a super bowl. I think he’d be a great addition to a franchise in need of a smart center.

5. LeGarrette Blount RB- Blount reached career highs in yards and touchdowns this past season. You would think he’d be in high demand for a job opportunity but that's not the case. Blount can still run strong in the trenches along with a lil footwork. He’ll be signed before the upcoming season and I have a good feeling he’ll be back with the squad that makes things happen aka THE TOP GUNNAS OF THE LEAGUE. (PATRIOTS)

4. Elvis Dumervil OLB- Elvis is still a tough guy to stop even at age 33. He can still set the edge and rush the passer somewhat, and with that said, someone should be willing to take the chance on him.

3. Johnathan Hankins DT- Big body at 325 lbs and can move well for his size. He has a strong ability to clog up holes against the run. I think he's a solid player and he’s just 25 years of age giving him room for improvement.

2. King Dunlap LT- Standing close to almost 7 feet and weighing 330 pounds, King Dunlap is a monster at offensive tackle and has skills to go with that height and weight. He’s been towards the top of the league since he's entered and plans to continue his dominance elsewhere.

1. Adrian Peterson RB- After visiting with a few teams like the Giants and Patriots, the greatest running back of all time in my opinion is still jobless. Hes coming off another injury in his career and the last major one transformed him into a savage for the next season, crowning him the MVP at seasons end. Who knows what's in store for him for the 2017 season but if it’s even half of what he did in his MVP season, teams will be satisfied.

Top 2017 NFL Free Agent Signings

10. CB Aj Bouye Jacksonville Jaguars (5 years $67.5 million with 26 million guaranteed) Aj Bouye is a young upcoming corner with high potential. The 25 year old has been a starter for just one season and in that single year he was graded by pro football focus as the ninth-best cornerback in football last season. I think Bouye could turn into a promising corner in this league and could fit well in the Jags system with Jalen Ramsey usually covering the top wideout on the field. This signing fills their corner slot, having losing cornerback Johnathan Cyprien to the Tennessee Titans.

9. MLB Lawrence Timmons Miami Dolphins (2 years $12 million) Timmons signs with the fish, and he'll pair up with Kiko Alonso at LB to try and slow down Brady’s offense, which probably won’t happen.

8. WR Terrelle Pryor Washington Redskins (1 year $8 million) Pryor turned down a multi-year deal from Cleveland and took a 1 year deal with Washington, indicating he wanted nothing to do with the Browns foolishness. If he goes off with Kirk Cousins, he can expect a smooth payday his way at seasons end.

7. Calias Campbell Jacksonville Jaguars (4 year $60 million with $30 million guaranteed) Campbell, who's been playing at a high level throughout his career is heading to the slowly improving Jags, with a defense who the front office spent a good amount of change on in last years free agency. He’s a tough guy to block in the trenches due to being 6'8", 280 lbs and athletic.

6. WR Alshon Jeffery Philadelphia Eagles (1 year $14 million)

-Ian Rapoport noted on NFL Network reported that the 27-year-old opted for this one year deal rather than taking a below-market multi-year deal, treating the deal like a franchise tag. His future goals seem to be earning a wealthy long-term contract with a strong season in Philadelphia. Philly looks for Jeffery to be a downfield threat, because of his size and ability to make plays. Carson Wentz didn't throw deep often last season but look for Wentz to try and elevate his game with Jeffery in the lineup.

5. CB Stephon Gilmore New England Patriots (5 years $65 million with $40 million guaranteed)- After the best super bowl you've ever saw in yahhhhh life....the patriots entered free agency with big money. You wouldn't think they had plans to cut the check, since they seemed to be struggling on negotiations with Hightower's contract at the time,, while still deciding what they want to do with Butler. They paid him like a lockdown corner which was questionable to me but Belichick always has a plan in the works, so as a fan you just have to be patient and trust the formula he created. Stephon Gilmore is a good, but not great corner in my eyes, since his time in this league. Hes coming off a so-so season on Rex Ryan's Bills, so Belichick must really believe that he fits perfectly in his defense, seeing how he made him the seventh highest paid corner in the game. The only reason this signing is up there is because I have to roll with Belichick, even though this is a weird move to me.

4. TE Martellus Bennett Green Bay Packers (3 years $21 million) Martellus Bennett left New England with a championship in front of his home and also tied up the score with his all pro brother Michael Bennett with a super bowl ring like he had planned. Bennett had a solid past season with the GOAT throwing him dimes left and right. He will now find himself receiving from another golden arm in Aaron Rodgers signing with the Green bay Packers. Huge bounce back in free agency for the Pack as they couldn't reach a deal with TE Jared Cook, who had a great past season.

3. WR DeSean Jackson Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3 years $35 million with $20 million guaranteed)- This is a huge pick up for the Bucs as they've saw their team improve over the last weeks of the season having potential to hit the playoffs next season for the first time in the Famous Jameis era. This pickup will compliment their other pro bowl caliber receiver Mike Evans who bullied secondary's last season with his catches in traffic. Jackson is a strong deep threat that can still dust you off at 30 years old.

2. WR Brandon Marshall New York Giants (2 year $12 million) Brandon Marshall gets to stay in NYC and make millions but with a better situation and better franchise. The deadly trio of Marshall, Odell, and Sterling Shepard should apply a lot of pressure to defenses trying to contain all 3. Look out for Eli vs Brady part III in the super bowl. (More revenge for Brady)

1. WR Brandin Cooks New England Patriots (traded to New England from New Orleans who received 1st and 3rd round picks) I threw Cooks up here because this is a huge deal that happened during the FA period, and it almost feels like a free agent signing when picks are involved. This might give Brady that dangerous deep threat that’s been long overdue. Cooks, who looks to be at the beginning of his prime has had some great early seasons with Drew Brees. Cooks is still arguably one of the fastest guys in football, and with Brady's greatness involved this could turn into a deadly connection. In my opinion this is the biggest move that’s happened in the 2017 NFL free agency season, and it could lead to another ring on another finger.

On my down time I try to shoot fresh content as much as I can. But, the other day I felt so uninspired that I couldn't think of any ideas. So my fellow actress Efrangeliz and I stepped outside and walked around the block. And, the idea of hollering at a female came to mind. About a hour later we shot the following video. Crazy thing was I lost some of the original footage for this video. Hence why E has two different outfits on and I have a fresh haircut in two of the scenes. lol just a little behind the scenes info for you guys. Battle Rap Takes Over Jermaine Dupri's The Rap Game!

This most recent episode of The Rap Game had to be the most exciting episode thus far. If you missed it the episode began with one of the contestants leaving the house after learning the challenge of the week is a Rap Battle amongst the contestants. To be clear the contestant LEFT the house without telling anybody including Jermaine Dupri. By the way this was the 2nd time this season the contestant had done something like this. This really got under my skin because having an opportunity to be on The Rap Game is huge. The show opens many doors for you whether you win the So So Deff contract or not. So, to leave the competition without a valid excuse such as a sickness or death is the equivalent to spitting in J.D's face. There are so many talented teens out there that wish to be on the show. And, to just leave shows how bad you really want a career in the rap games. I discuss more of the topic on the Aftershow below:

I also favored this episode because it features a few of my favorite battle rappers which I've seen Battle Rap since 2009 on YouTube. Battle Rappers such as John John Da Don, Charlie Clips, DNA, Arsenal, and Calico were featured on the show. My favorite battles from each rapper go as follows: John John Vs Hitman Holla, Charlie Clips vs Tay Roc (2008), DNA vs Oun P, Arsenal Vs Hitman Holla, and Calico vs Loaded Lux. Watch any of those battles and you will see why they are a few of the elite battle rappers out. My favorite Battle Rappers overall has always been Murda Mook, Hollow Da Don, Comceited, and Tsu Surf. My loyal URL people know wassup!

Each battle rapper teamed up with a contestant and gave them tips on how to win their battle. In the end the underestimated team of King Roscoe & Arsenal won the Rap Battle which landed King Roscoe at #1 on the hit list.

Season 3 is coming down to the end as the next episode will reveal who has won the So So Deff chain and contract. Stay Tuned!

The April Fools Package

For April Fools Day I filmed two pranks that worked out and not so much worked out. Actually, during my shooting day I filmed two previous skits. After filming I had an issue in post and ended up losing the footgage shots. So, the team and I had to shoot two new skits to make up for the day. Ended up being up until 4 a.m. on a Friday Night! The things we do to be great smh.But, s/o my squad for hanging in there.
