What To Expect All Star 2018

Well its only right for stars too meet in the land of the stars, and thats exactly whats going down for this years NBA All-Star weekend out in sunny Southern California. All-Star weekend will be in Los Angeles this weekend and its packed with star studded events, from yacht parites, to the dunk contest, and to the actual All-Star game. The weekend kicks off on Friday night at 7pm with the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game headlined by Michael B. Jordan. This game is ineresting for the simple fact that you get to find out if your favorite celebrity can hoop or not, an most do have a little game they want to show off just to show they have other talents besides the craft they’re famously known for.

The game is usually filled with ugly shots made and goofy pranks on and off the court. The next event is the Rising stars challenge which includes the top rookies and sophomores in todays NBA. Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum headline the game along with super rookie Donovan Mitchell and rookie Ben Simmons who is technically a sophomore but was injured throughout the whole season last year. This will be better basketball compared to the celeb game, and should be filled with high flying dunks and prideful matchup wars. This game could actually get competitive down the stretch due to players still being young and hungry.

The following night is a huge one, with the Skills Challenge taking the lead, followed by the Three-Point contest, and the highly anticipated Slam Dunk contest to cap off the night. Joel Embiid headlines the Skills Challenge and looks to take out pre-favorite Lou Williams. The 3-point contest should be a good one this year with sharp shooters Klay Thompson, Devin Booker, Paul George, Bradley Beal, and other knockdown shooters participating. Klay Thompson and Devin Booker seem to be the favorites in this one but we’ll see how it goes down Saturday night. The most highly anticipated contest of All-Star weekend is the dunk contest! The participants include Victor Oladipo (Pacers), Larry Nance Jr. (Cavaliers), Dennis Smith Jr. (Mavericks), Donovan Mitchell (Jazz). These are all high flyers and they should not disappoint. The actual All-Star game is on Sunday at 8pm with all the big names like Lebron James, and Steph Curry.

Those 2 top players are actually team captains for their respected squads who they picked just like its done in the school yard. Instead of 2 separate conferences this year, they had the top 2 vote getters be captains and they went back and forth on picking the eligible All-Stars. Lebron James is actually teaming up with old friend but now seemed to be foe but now doesn’t really seem to be since he selected him, Kyrie Irving, who left Cleveland this past summer to join the Boston Celtics, leaving LBJ in the dust. He also scooped Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis to create a strong squad. Steph on the other hand has Giannis “The Greek Freak” and James Harden to contend with LBJ and his team. This should be a little different with the conferences mixed up making it more of a competitive game then past All-Star matchups. Make sure you tune in or attend the All-Star festivities because its in the heart of entertainment and good weather, lovely Los Angeles.
