Week 10: New England Patriots Vs. Seattle Seahawks Recap

The Eastcoast vs. Westcoast beef was reignited Sunday night November 13, 2016 in primetime but we’re not talking BIG and Pac, or Badboy vs. Deathrow. We can say The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks banged heads on the gridiron Sunday night and added another classic to the resume. The two powerhouses knuckled up deep in Patriot land for the first time since 2014 at Superbowl XLIX. Defensive back Malcolm Butler cancelled Seattle’s repeat with his legendary interception at the goal line and made Marshawn Lynch aka “BeastMode” consider retiring a season later due to his coaches stupidity during crunch time(somewhat joking).

Tom Brady and his troops struck first quickly with an effortless drive down field and topped off the drive with Legarrette Blount purging through the goal line for a 1 yard score. He finished with 3 scores on the day with 69 yards on 21 touches. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks capped off 2 drives with field goals early in the first to make the score 7-6 New England.
Wilson got comfortable early in the 2nd quarter leading the hawks down field to complete the drive with a back shoulder throw to Doug Baldwin close by the pilon lifting the hawks to only a 12-7 lead due to a blocked extra point. Brady had a solid night going 23-32 for 316 yards, but
slipped up trying to teleport a pass deep and was picked off by non deserving
cornerback Deshawn Shead. Brady and the gang bounced back at the end of the 2nd quarter with Blount crossing the goaline for the second time of the night. Wilson and the hawks took advantage of the little time left in the half and scored 6 points on Wilson turning a negative into a positive (word to BYOD) while doing his best Brett Favre impersonation throwing across his body to wide open Doug Baldwin for his 2nd score right before the end of the half.

The Patriots came out in the second half down 19-14 and decided to ignite the blount who continued his savage style of running bullying through seahawks defenders for 3rd score and a hat trick putting New England up 21-19. New England's bend but don't break defensive approach gave Wilson confidence late in the 3rd quarter as he
completed a couple passes downfield but like the slogan says the defense didn't break and held the hawks to a field goal reversing the lead to 22-21 in Seattle’s favor. On the next drive Martellus Bennett treated Earl Thomas III like a sorry scronney pop warner
safety, giving him the stiff arm from hell. I want to say it was revenge for Earls lung
puncturing hit on Gronk in the 2nd quarter (karmas a bitch). Bennett finished with 7 receptions for 102 yards alongside his tight end bro Gronkowski who was 3 receptions for 56 yards. The Patriots closed out the 3rd with a solid drive and gave the game a 6th lead change with a field goal going up 24-22 at the beginning of the final quarter. A couple minutes later Seattle went to an unlikely weapon individual in running back C.J. Prosise who actually received a bomb from Wilson resulting with a field goal at the end of the drive putting the Seahawks on top again 25-24 early in the 4th quarter. A momentum killer happened with 8:30 left in the 4th when Edelman coughed up the ball on strip attempt from the heavy hitter Kam “Bam Bam” Chancellor.Wilson then threw a dime to Baldwin in the back of the end zone allowing him to join Blount with his own hat trick. Baldwin finished with 59 yards on 6 preceptions and 3 touchdowns. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll decided to go for 2 points looking to make the game 2 possessions in order to comeback with 4:22 remaining but failed to do so with Malcolm Butler lockin up Baldwin and keeping the score at 31-24. Brady’s final drive under 2 minutes looked promising when Gronk made a touch catch in the redzone and put them in prime position to tie the game up within the 5 yardline with 4 fresh downs. Failing to punch it in 3 downs prior, the patriots ironically didn’t learn from Seattle in Super Bowl XLIX and didn't hand the hot hand the pigskin. Instead Brady threw a jump ball fade to Gronkowski with Kam Chancellor on the defense resulting in an incompletion and a loss.

Another classic under the belt for Bill Belichick vs. Pete Carroll and the rivalry
continues between these franchises hoping to see another matchup later on between the two in Houston, Texas for Super Bowl LI.
