"Shots Fired" is a story that resonates with what's going on in todays world with the numerous killings of unarmed black men. This series shows the flip side to the issue where an unarmed white male is killed by Joshua Beck (Mack Wilds) an African American police officer. When the incident occurs in a small southern town in North Carolina a seasoned investigator Ashe Akino (Sanaa Lathan) and a young special prosecutor, Preston Terry (Stephan James) are sent in to investigate the case. What the dynamic duo finds out based on the first episode is that there is more to the story than seen on the surface.
What I like best about the series thus far is how each character is relateable. The story telling in this series doesn't only show the professional side to each character but how their everyday life is as well. My favorite character thus far is Preston the prosecutor because he takes his job very serious and understands that it takes time to make a real change. Preston has a brother in the NFL that takes pride in coming from the hood and he lives the fast life. Their relationship is very relataeable due to the older brother constantly taking jabs at his younger brother Preston for being on the opposite side of the law. Its as if the brothers come from the same past but chose two separate paths for their futures.
Be sure to check out the first episode premiering next week March 22 at 8/7c on FOX. Check out some pics from my favorite celebrities on the carpet, cast and I below!
