Jeroom trusting himself

Have you ever been around the wrong people and you knew deep down something didn't feel right? But, for some reason you continued to hang with them. After some time you begin to see you've created another character of yourself. "Pretending to be two people at the same time was not right at all" is what Jeroom York shared with our #BYODFAM. Jeroom is a young individual that realized at the early age that following other people and being involved in the wrong crowds isn't the right choice. He wasn't allowing his self the opportunity to show his true personality around others. After a while his family expressed that they didn't like the person he was becoming.

After realizing that he had nobody to turn to for advice he decided to make a change. He began to express his personality with his thoughts. After turning 17, he began to write down his thoughts in notebooks on what older people fail to do for younger people when it comes to decision making. He came to the conclusion that people complain more to others instead of sharing wisdom on how to change and fix a situation. His technique of writing his thoughts down on a piece of paper helped changed his mindset.

Since then his reading skills and self confidence has changed for the better. He's learned to use his motivation from sports NOW for his studies. His negative of having nobody to turn to transformed into his positive of trusting his own thoughts. What I picked up from his story is recognizing what isn't in his life had pushed him to look inside of his self for what was already there. Often times we look for others to direct us on what to do, where to go, and how to do something. In all reality we just have to take time with ourselves and trust ourselves that we will figure out the next step. Don't be in such a hurry to listen to JOE Schmoe from around the corner....listen to yourself and trust yourself.
